Buffy Challenge: Post 1 Season 1: Ep1 - 4

Here is the first installment of the Buffy Challenge this challenge was placed before me after I mentioned how much I was looking forward to "Dollhouse", I have never seen an episode of Buffy till now and really had no intention to do so, but a challenge is a challenge so here we GO!

I will be posting after every disk I watch and give each episode a rating out of ten. (really depends on how much I enjoy the episode.)

Season 1: Disk 1
Episodes 1 - 4:

Episode 1 and 2:

Welcome to the Hellmouth / The Harvest

First things first, I have to say that the show does not suck as much as I thought it would. However as a pilot episode (two parter) it was average at best. It set up the characters well but it was a little dragged out and confusing, the cliff hanger was not really that . It does help seeing a familiar face in Willow (Alyson Hannigan) AKA Lily from how I met your mother. The dialog is corny and the makeup and special effects are wierd looking but I can forgive that due to the fact that the show aired in 1997 in the hight of the 90210 era and I guess for the time for a tv show the budgets would not be huge.

Oh and this confirms the fact that I could care less about vampires. It might be a long 7 seasons!

5.5 / 10

Episode 3:

The Witch

I really liked this episode, it was clever and a nice twist in the villian. I thought that it was going to be the typical vampire villian of the week but to see what buffy and her "slayerettes" were up against was a plesent surprise. I am trying to use my "Smallville" (I love SMALLVILLE BTW!!!) brain watching this show, and this episode was a very smallvillish episode. (before I get flamed, I know that buffy predates smallville, and I am trying not to compare the two shows this is just how I am relating to it.) Nice ending also! (creepy with the eyes!)

7/10

Episode 4:

Teacher's Pet

Now a female teacher that devours students ........... Hmmmm? never heard of this senario before. I think I've seen that giant prain mantis suit in an Ed Wood movie! Nice to see that Buffy had time to kill a vampire on the way to saving her "pure" friend (Or would the show been called "Buffy the freak of the week slayer?"). and for all students out there the moral of the story is "When you do your homework, you learn stuff!" wiser words have never been spoken.
Oh and will the "loose end" be something of a habit in this show? time will tell I guess.

It was not as good as the witch but I didn't mind this one:

Is it me or does Willow get all the good lines?

6/10

LOL!!!! I know, but to call it "The Buffy Offer" sounds like a 2 for 1 special at smorgies all you can eat.

So at least challenge sounds like I'm trying to achieve something.
